Nostalgia, it isn’t what it used to be.

They say, in the good old days, people talked more, people walked more and people worked more. They say, modern times are the times of laziness, both in terms of energy expenditure and brain activity. Before mobile phones, the average person had a memory of 25 phone numbers (alternative facts may apply) now it’s three. However, it isn’t all doom and gloom, there are certain advantages for technology doing our legwork and our brainwork for us.

Take your spouse’s birthday, for example. Long ago, these things had to be planned well in advance; bookings made, calendars consulted, arrangements arranged. Nowadays, thanks to the wonders of advanced technology and the world-wide-internet, you can sign up to our priorities list at The Grove and get a reminder of when your spouse’s birthday is, you can get a nudge with a virtual sharp elbow to make a booking for a night’s dinner bed and breakfast at The Grove, and with a couple of clicks of the mouse (how passé) taps of the screen, make a reservation at The Massage Hut for a special treat for him or her. You can also, (and here’s the exciting new part), with a couple more taps of the screen, book one of our fantastically-new-and-amazingly-snazzy arrival packages to be ready and waiting for your stay. Chocolates, flowers and fizz are all at your disposal, all you need to do is tap, or click if you are still using one of those mouse things.

In the future, we are planning to add a system where you do not even have to make that much of an effort. A teleportation device, which takes you straight out of your bed in the morning, bags fully packed, and delivers you in a zombie-like state to your wonderful destination on The North Norfolk coast, all by the power of thought. In those days we will miss the travelling, we will miss actively clicking/tapping of the screen; we will look back and say, with nostalgia. It isn’t what it used to be.
