Accessible Rooms

We take inclusion and accessibility seriously at The Grove from small touches like large scale print menus available on request to larger projects like wheelchair friendly bathroom in some of our rooms and cottages.

The Grove itself was built in 1790s and is a Grade 2 listed building, making it difficult to adapt the stairs or rooms to add accessible features, however the public areas downstairs have been adapted in either landscaping or flooring to make sure that they are as accessible as possible, and wheelchair friendly.

There are a few options available, depending on your needs. The Bungalow offers self-catering accommodation, which is also available on a bed and breakfast or even dinner, bed and breakfast basis in some seasons. The Bungalow is one level, with its own patio and garden. It has a large walk -in shower and parking close by.

Mrs Page’s Cottage is also on one level – there is an internal step, with a ramp, the front door has two steps up, but there is a back door, which is suitable for wheelchairs.

The Orchard Rooms are set around 50 meters from the main building and are accessed by a beautiful winding path. They are a haven of peace and quiet and are bordered by our small orchard and vegetable garden.

Victoria, which is slightly larger and has accessible facilities in its bathroom, including two drop down handrails either side of the raised toilet, a walk-in bath with shower over it. It also has accessibility emergency alarm. All our other Orchard Rooms also have ground floor accommodation for those who find stairs difficult.

A timber framed and clad structure, which was built in 2013, The Orchard Rooms won recognition with an award for craftsmanship from the Norfolk and Norwich Architects Association. They all have underfloor heating and flexible zip-link beds, which can made as twins or a Super King-sized double. The Orchard Rooms are five ground floor bedrooms located in a quiet corner of the garden and perfect both for large groups and for those wanting a little extra space away from the main house. The site once housed a small orchard, and there are still a few fruit trees there today, which supply The Garden Rooms with seasonal fruits. This corner of the garden is a wonderful place where all our home-grown fruit and veg is grown in the adjacent glasshouse and poly-tunnel.
