The Bungalow

The Bungalow

The Bungalow was originally built for Hilda Graveling when her son and daughter-in-law took over the running of the guest house in 1978. It is situated at the rear of The Grove and sleeps two people in one twin bedded room. As the name suggests, The Bungalow is single storey, with a large patio door leading from the living room onto a private patio, next to which is a car parking space and a small lawn—making access easy and convenient, particularly for wheelchair users. Inside, there is a well equipped kitchen with fridge-freezer, microwave, gas oven and washing machine. A hall leads to a bathroom, bedroom, and living room/dining area. The living room is complete with freeview television and DVD player and wifi is accessible throughout. All in all, it is a peaceful and practical place to stay and is very popular with our regular visitors.

All the facilities at The Grove are available for residents of the self-catering cottages. So, if you don’t feel like cooking, you can take advantage of our restaurant which is open most days for lunch and dinner. You can also book in for breakfast (really handy on the last day of your holiday), order from our drinks menu, use the indoor swimming pool and outdoor play equipment, explore the grounds and neighbouring woods that lead to the cliffs and beach, or just relax with a cup of tea in our beautiful Georgian house and gardens.

The Coach House

The Coach House

The Coach House, in the centre of the row of cottages, sleeps two people in one comfortable upstairs double room, next to a bathroom with natural light from its Velux window. The downstairs open-plan kitchen, dining and living room benefits from large south-facing windows built into the old doorway through which the horse-drawn coaches used to enter. The kitchen is equipped with washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob, while the living room is complete with freeview television and DVD player, and wifi is accessible throughout. Parking is available in front of the cottage.

The Cottage

The Cottage

The Cottage sleeps two people and was formerly a barn, renovated in the early 1990s. The Cottage has an open plan living-dining room, featuring exposed beams and a large glass south-facing wall filling the original barn entrance. The cosy double bedroom is in the former hay loft, above, and the bathroom, also upstairs, was refitted in November 2012. In the kitchen there is a washing machine and a full range of equipment including a fridge-freezer, electric oven and hob and microwave. The living room is complete with freeview television and DVD player, and wifi is accessible throughout. Parking is available either in front of The Cottage or to the rear.

The Stable

The Stable

The former stable was converted in 1987 and is full of character, even containing the original hay rack. It sleeps four people in one double room and one twin bedded room, which are upstairs along with the recently refitted bathroom. Downstairs, the open plan living and dining area is separated from the kitchen by the original stable dividing wall—so you can still be part of the conversation with friends or family while cooking. The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, fridge-freezer, electric hob and oven and microwave. The living room is complete with freeview television and DVD player and wifi is accessible throughout. Parking is available in front of The Stable.

The Barn

The Barn

The largest of the cottages is the former barn, sleeping six people in total and with many original features such as arrow-slit windows and exposed flint work. Most of the ground floor is a spacious open-plan kitchen-dining-living room, with full-height windows filling the south side of the dining area where the massive barn door used to be. The kitchen comes equipped with washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob, and the living room is complete with freeview television and a DVD player. Wifi is accessible throughout.

Just off the living room is a cosy downstairs bedroom with bunk beds. The other two bedrooms—one double and one with twin beds—are upstairs along with two bathrooms, approached by a gallery landing that splits in two directions at the top of the stairs.

At the front of The Barn is a pretty courtyard shared with the neighbouring cottages, and guests are also welcome to enjoy the rest of The Grove’s grounds. Parking is available at the rear, with easy access through the back door in the kitchen.

Mrs Page's

Mrs Page's

The former gardener’s cottage was renovated in the early 1990s, and bears the name of the lady who lived there for much of her life, before she reached the grand old age of 100. Mrs Page’s is a ground floor cottage with one twin bedded room (look out for the holes in the walls where there was once a hidden safe) and one single room.

The bathroom has recently been refitted, and the farmhouse kitchen has a gas cooker and hob, fridge-freezer and washing machine. Mrs Page’s has a beautiful beamy spacious living room complete with piano—feel free to fill the cottage with music! You’ll also find freeview television and a DVD player, along with wifi throughout. There is space for parking both to the rear and in front of the cottage.
